Carola Dunn, Author of the Daisy Dalrymple Mysteries

Carola Dunn is a remarkable woman. She's written more than 50 Daisy Dalrymple mysteries, Cornish mysteries and Regency romances, each one published to the acclaim of her readers and the praise of her fellow writers. Meet Carola, learn of her dedication to the craft and listen to her read from Anthem for Doomed Youth at the Ashland Branch Library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd. in Ashland, Oregon on Thursday April 14, 2011 at 7pm or at the Medford Branch Library on Saturday April 16 at 1p. The events are free and open to the public.

Carola Dunn's visit to Southern Oregon is the capstone event in the Jackson County Reads initiative, which in 2011, features mystery and crime fiction. This is the second time that this Eugene, Oregon author has visited Southern Oregon as a guest of the Ashland Mystery series.

Set in 1920s England, Anthem for Doomed Youth is Carola's latest Daisy Dalrymple novel. As with all of Carola's works, Anthem is more than a mystery - it's an examination of the social tensions that pervade Europe after the Great War.

The graves of three long-dead men are discovered in Epping Forest, and Det. Chief Inspector Alec Fletcher is on the case. Fletcher thinks Daisy's out of the picture visiting their daughter at school, until Daisy ties these deaths in to that of a dead teacher found in the medieval maze of Bridge End Garden.  Publishers Weekly says of Anthem, "The aristocratic but very modern Daisy makes a formidable amateur sleuth as she acts to stop more murders and get justice for theCarola Dunn, Author of the Daisy Dalrymple Mysteries victims."

Anthem for Doomed Youth gets another rave review from Booklist: "Dunn’s striking portrait of Daisy continues to remind readers that there were strong women with careers in England during the 1920s—and women who successfully balanced work and parenthood. As always, Dunn combines an entertaining story with fascinating historical material."

As if writing daily to meet a demanding book publication schedule and traveling to talk with readers all over the country aren't enough, Carola Dunn also writes a friendly and informative blog CarolaDunn.Weebly.com that frequently features her beloved Trillian, a border collie with some lab thrown in. Read about the daily life of Trillian and her human mistress at the CoffeeCanine.Blogspot.com
